    Meet Judy Becerra, MS, LPC

    My Professional Background:

I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Social Work at the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas in 1985. Almost four years later I obtained my Masters of Science degree in Psychology and Counseling for Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas in 1989. For roughly 7 years I worked at a psychiatric hospital in Phoenix, AZ. as an individual and family therapist with children and adolescents facing severe mental health issues. I was eventually promoted to the clinical director of the hospital and oversaw the older adult, adult, adolescent and children units. At the same time, I was building a small private practice primarily working with adoption, infertility, mood disorders including depression and anxiety, sexual assault and childhood trauma.

Following my move to Denver, CO in 2001 I ran an adolescent unit at a residential treatment center, again working with adolescents and their families. For 2 years I was the outreach director of a domestic violence shelter and outpatient clinic working with women and girls facing domestic and sexual assault. I spent the next 5 years working as the Program Director for Judi’s House, a bereavement center for children and their families. I ran groups for adults and youth ages 3-25 who had lost a loved one.

In 2011 I began working at a reproductive medicine clinic doing counseling with individuals and couples facing infertility. Since 1995, I worked in private practice with offices both in Phoenix, AZ and later in Denver, Colorado. I have published multiple articles on parenting and childhood/adolescent issues for McKesson health care in addition to authoring a chapter in a book “Your Fertility. Your Family.” I have spoken on grief and bereavement at national conferences, was featured in a documentary “Final Passages”, have been interviewed on radio and TV and have had articles in TIME, Men’s Health and the Wall Street Journal.

My Psychotherapy registered license number with DORA is 3914.
